Ever since working for my uncle’s cell phone store in Winnipeg I’ve known that making customers happy is all you have to do to succeed. Once my uncle sold his store, the new owners didn’t care so much and that warm feeling I had grown to love soon disappeared.
I knew it was time to get out, so I joined forces with my friend Derek and we created ‘Planet Mobility’ our very own cell phone company. Seriously focused on customer care we became the 2nd largest dealer in the area and by the time we sold in 2012 it was ingrained in my soul: Making customers happy is in my DNA.
Then one day my fiancé and I purchased some major appliances for our home, new fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. The store we bought them from told us about their ‘Lifetime Price Protection Plan’ for all the items we had bought, meaning, if the identical item was offered by anyone (including themselves) for less than we had paid we would get refunded the price difference!
By chance few weeks later I noticed a flyer advertising our microwave for $50 less than we had paid. Wow, we got $50 back. Inspired I researched and found the fridge and stove we bought were on sale at another store. This time we got $500 back! I felt as good as I used to at my uncles store and suddenly realized that getting money back makes people feel GREAT!
